Recovering from Religion Releases New Resource Database
Non-profit Assembles Largest Vetted Database of its Kind
Location: Worldwide
In an era of misinformation, disinformation, and questionable sources of information, Recovering from Religion has assembled the largest collection of vetted resources pertaining to religious deconstruction of its kind.
Vetted by a team of volunteers, including former Secular Therapy Project member and Resource Director David Teachout, this database is a free, public-facing offering, which includes books, websites, podcasts, presentations, links to orgs, and links to appropriate hotlines. The ongoing vetting process ensures that the content meets the standard for reputable, science-based, and relevant messaging for those seeking hope, healing, and support.
Visitors to the site are able to access a multitude of topics, including Psychology and Mental Health, Community Engagement, and Services. Each of these topics is further broken down into subtopics with hundreds of resources.
IT Director and Board of Directors Member David Klinge, who constructed the database, commented that each resource is accompanied by an icon indicating whether the resource is a video, a website, a book, a podcast, an article, or an organization.
Recovering from Religion offers a 24-hour helpline, with phone or internet chat options, as well as multiple in-person and virtual support groups. However, for some folks seeking help, even those accessible options can feel daunting.
“This database accommodates those initial fears, and allows each client to peruse and review resources directly related to their own unique journey at their own pace”, says President and Founder Dr. Darrel Ray.
The Executive Director, Board Members, and Ambassadors are available for comment and interviews.
Recovering from Religion is a 501(c)(3) based in Kansas, and holds a Platinum rating from Candid, the highest rating possible for transparency and accountability.
